I have a thing for little succulents. I don’t like it when they start growing bigger but I don’t know how to stop it. I guess I can’t. I like the little lotus-looking ones, but took pictures of some other peculiar ones. Nature is amazing. Oh. Remind me to blog sometime about the episode of Blue Planet: the Deep Ocean I watched over the weekend. Some freaky crap there.
Anyway I had stopped by the California Cactus Center in Pasadena for a cover-up job– that is, I needed to cover up the Murder on my dining table. Really says something about my green thumb when I can’t keep desert plants alive… -_-*
The Center is cute and homey, seems family-run. I suddenly get a sense of what it might be like to live in a idyllic small town. Customers chat each other up and admire each other’s picks. The cashier takes her time ringing me up, but I’m not annoyed. Her graying hair is casually undone; she warns me against getting the deceivingly prickly “bunny ears” cactus I’ve included. Bunny ears is out, I concur. It’s pleasant. It’s strange. I gather my little things (always three or four more than I had planned to get…) and get back out to my anonymous urban world.
